Fancy a Stroll Around One of Chelsea’s Farmers’ Markets this Weekend?
We bring you the pick of the bunch to enjoy this springtime
There’s nothing quite like a wander around Chelsea on a Saturday afternoon in spring. With idyllic tree-lined streets and quaint blossom-filled mews hidden around almost every corner, there’s no better spot in the city to spend time enjoying the warmer weather.
Although there are plenty of delectable eateries surrounding our luxury hotel in Chelsea, and we serve up the best afternoon tea in the land, we do love strolling around the local Chelsea food markets, searching for the freshest produce and sweetest treats. If you love locally-sourced fruit and vegetables, or simply wish to enjoy a cup of fresh coffee and a sandwich laden with organic goodness alfresco, we have put together a list of our favourite Chelsea farmer’s markets on the doorstep of our 5 star hotel for you to visit during your stay.
Just a short walk from our hotel in Chelsea, London, and nestled along the busy King’s Road, sits Duke of York Square where one of our favourite weekend spots, Partridge’s Food Market, can be found. Open between 10am and 4pm, every Saturday, The Square is filled with market stalls serving up delicious cakes, fresh pastries and international hot food to eat on the go, as well as a wide selection of cheeses, fruit, vegetables and condiments to take away. The perfect place to stop for a bite to eat mid-shopping spree.
Established in 2002, this Time Out award-winning market is another great choice for a sunny day. Just a ten-minute walk from our luxury hotel in Chelsea and you’ll find yourself perusing the number of well-stocked market stalls serving up fresh produce, including: fruit, fresh pasta, meat and poultry, seasonal game, day-boat fish and seasonal specials from asparagus to cherries.
Although not strictly in Chelsea, this market is still located in the Royal Borough, and is well worth a visit. Just a fifteen-minute stroll from our luxury hotel and you will reach London’s famous museum district of South Kensington, home to one of the best farmer’s markets around. Each Saturday, between 9am and 2pm, you will find a busy market awash with south coast shellfish and special treats from The Parsons Nose, Ted Veg and Perry Court Farm and Wild Country Organics.
If you like to dine in comfort but still want to take advantage of the spring weather, perhaps The Marketplace Restaurant is the alfresco option for you. With its market-inspired atmosphere, this is the perfect spot for anyone who wants the fresh, organic goodness of a market, with all the comfort and style of a cosy restaurant.
Do you know of any other hidden markets in the local area? We would love to know all about them.
