Theme
The Draycott Hotel is a hotel with pedigree, and that
pedigree is nowhere more apparent than in its 35 beautifully
appointed and individually decorated rooms.
Steeped in Edwardian splendour; with high ceilings and
fireplaces; each room is theatrically themed and adorned
with Victorian antiques. Each room contains something of its
theatrical namesake - be it Sheridan, Coward, Grenfell, or
Ashcroft - such as prints, posters, photographs and a
miniature biography of the impresario in question. All our
rooms come with ensuite bathroom containing a
well-proportioned bath and a power shower.
Rooms and suites at the back of the property benefit from
glorious views over the private garden square below -
particularly beautiful when the cherry trees are in blossom.
At the end of the day there is the indulgence of sleeping
between finest Sea Island cotton in a luxuriously large bed,
especially made to Draycott Hotel's own specification and
designed for perfect rest.
Whether you are staying in a single room or a suite, all
rooms feature the modern amenities you'd expect, such as air
conditioning, satellite television and CD music system.
Where better than the Draycott Hotel to combine the grandeur
of the past with the luxuries and convenience of today.

Theme of the suites
Originally built in the 1890's, work began in 1995 to bring
the Hotel up to the standards of refinement and personal
service of a 5 star establishment. This involved the efforts
of interior designer Rupert Lord.
The design team started with a historic fabric that dates to
the hotel, or something that reflected the theatrical
personality whose name each room bears.
So for example, the Ellen Terry room was given the air of a
star's Victorian dressing room, while for the J.M. Barrie
room, Zoffany's designs and prints based on Kate Greenaway's
children's books have been used.
Rupert Lord reflects on the overall effect:
"A Hotel should be crisper than the country. It should
be clear, calm, should sit back a bit".
Every detail combines to convince guests that they are at
home, invited to enjoy Edwardian standards of hospitality in
a grand yet friendly setting.
