The Michelin Guide 2017: The Culinary Delights of Kensington and Chelsea Revealed

The Michelin Guide, an internationally held standard for gastronomy running for more than 100 years, has announced the UK restaurants awarded its prestigious stars for 2017.

Chelsea and Kensington is home to some of London’s finest eateries, and with seven Michelin stars awarded across four restaurants for 2017 alone, it’s little wonder people flock to the borough to sample its culinary delights.

Five Fields in Chelsea, one of our favourite hidden gems and we are thrilled it has earned its first Michelin star. Head Chef, Marguerite Keogh, and her team offer modern British cooking mixed with influences from New York and Paris, making for indulgent dishes with fresh simplicity, including sea bass and partridge.

The Ledbury in Kensington retained its two stars for another year – and rightly so. Australian born Head Chef, Brett Graham, describes the food he and his team serve as ‘fabulous British produce where possible, with lots of vegetables and wild English game’. With two tasting menus (one vegetarian and one for meat lovers) and perfectly presented food, The Ledbury is a classic choice and definitely one to try while staying at one of the finest hotels in Chelsea.

Outlaw’s at The Capital, one of our favourite seafood spots, also retained its one star this year. All seafood is sourced from the beautiful Cornish coast and, with seasonal menus to enjoy, this spot in Knightsbridge changes regularly and serves eclectic dishes, including Whiskey Cured Salmon, for the more experimental diners.

Of course, the King of the Kitchen, Gordon Ramsay himself, retained his 3 Michelin stars for his commitment to good food at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, his flagship restaurant in Chelsea. Chef Patron, Clare Smyth MBE, is the only female Chef in the UK to hold this accolade and continues to serve dishes ranging from pan-fried scallops and foie gras to her regular diners after her many years serving at the restaurant.
